The weather was less than stellar with a dreary steady rain, but the action was pretty solid at Buffalo Raceway last night. For the second straight week, Wanna Rock N Roll took the feature, winning the $10,000 Open Pace. Like last week, Drew Monti was in the bike and the 6-year old stopped the clock in 1:59 over the wet going. She has now won five straight dating back to last year at Batavia Downs and has $10,000 in earnings in 2017.
As good as Wanna Rock N Roll has been, the most impressive performance last night occurred in the finale, when 9-year old Kiddie McCardle dominated the field, winning by about 10 lengths. Sure, the race was a $3,500 claimer, but the performance was an impressive one by the daughter of McArdle. She was driven by Larry Stalbaum, who had seven victories on the 11-race card.
Buffalo Raceway resumes Friday with an 11-race card. The features race is the third, with 8 colts and geldings running for a purse of $7,400.
Tonight at Yonkers, the feature is race 8 with a field of 8 competing for $17,000 in purses.
See you at the races!
