Three for $125K at Yonkers This Weekend

by John Furgele

Yonkers Raceway has three “nice little races” on its weekend calendar, with purses totaling $125,000.  There is no Sunday “international” racing, but that returns on January 29.  Here are the lineups.

Yonkers has a $45,000 Open Pace for fillies and mares on the card tonight with a field of seven scheduled.Scheduled post time is 8:50 pm ET

1 Set Me Up.

2 Delightful Dragon

3 Cracker Coffee

4 Massive Attack A

5 Bettor N Better

6 Hidden Land

7 Empress Deo

There are two nice ones on Saturday.  A $45,000 Open Handicap Pace.  Scheduled post time is 8:30 pm ET.

1 City Hall

2 PH Supercam

3 Caviart Luca

4 EZ Noah

5 Blood Brother

6 Roland N Rock

And….a $35,000 Preferred Handicap Pace.  Scheduled post time is 8:50 pm.

1 Sports Bettor

2 Dynamic Youth

3 Somewhere Fancy

5 Milliondollar Wave

6 Givenupdreaming

Personally, I like the fact that the races are earlier than the 10 pm hour, so if you can carve out time from 8 to 9, you should see some good races with some fast times.

In other news, SportsNet NY (SNY) announced that they will air live racing from The Meadowlands on Thursdays beginning January 26 and going through March 9  The plan calls for three live races each broadcast with analysis, insights and interviews.  The races will be produced by Meadowlands TV and will use their announcers and handicappers.  If you watched the Breeders Crown on SNY back in October, you know that production will be top rate and in HD.  We can all watch races on our phones and through live streams, but there is always value to watching a real telecast with on-air talent giving you insights and information.

See you at the races!
